Its very possible that the control arm could be your issue. However, its very difficult to speculate without seeing the car. If you have aftermarket wheels and larger width tires, that can shorten the tolerence where rubs can occur. Really, the only fool proof solution would be to find a reputable alignment shop and have them put it on their machine to not only tell if the car is running true from a previous accident if that is indeed the case, but also get your alignment in check from the springs and caster camber plates. If the alignment cant be brought back to spec or close to it, then they can help pinpoint the culprit. Theres literally hundreds of variables that could be causing a rub. My experience is usually just running too large of a tire on these and other cars. I've had similar situations where a left tire would rub and the right didnt unless I had a passenger in the car. Sometimes 150 pounds is all it takes. Find a local alignment shop, and they should be able to help you get your rub fixed. -Karson
