I have a 93 5.0 Mustang. When the car is cold I take off in 1st then change to 2nd and get on the gas and the car backfires...LOUD!!!!!! Not everytime though. When the car is warm no problem. I changed the fuel filter thought maybe it was clogged. It showed some metal shavings which means the fuel pump is going. Drove the car for about a week the same thing happened again. So I decided to change the fuel pump. I still have the same problem. Please help!!!!! Thanks!!!

 Not much up to date with the newer cars, but when the car backfires, it could be out of time. It may have slipped the timing chain also, but like I said, I am not up on these cars. My van will do the same thing every now and again, but I think that having 225,000 miles on it may have something to do with it. I will drive it until she just won't move anymore.
