    GT "functional" hood scoop?

I have a 2000 GT, and a KB 2.1L SuperCharger is being installed next week.  I am anticipating some over-average heat build up under the hood.  Does anyone know of a retro-kit to modify the stock hood scoop and open it up?  Simple answer: Cut a hole under the hood scoop, drill out the honeycomb fake intake, and screen it off with stainless mesh behind it.  Is there a kit out there already?  What about water intake issues?  Some kind of a 'louver' behind the mesh?  This isn't rocket science...just thought I'd ask.

I am not aware of a company that is producing a kit like you are talking about.  With enough time and patience on can be modified and fabricated to work like you are talking about.  As far as water getting in it would be a pretty involved process to keep water out yet still function like you are wanting it to.  I have seen aftermarket hoods out there with heat extractors already built in.  I never looked into it further because I never really liked the way they looked.you could switch over to an 03-04 cobra style hood and possibly get the sollution you are looking for.

I'm fairly certain that cutting a hole under the stock scoop would not allow enough air flow for a significant drop in underhood temperatures.  The scoop is simply too small.   You could also run a risk of losing some structural integrity of the hood.  If underhood heat does, in fact, present a problem, then the better solution would be an aftermarket hood that's vented at the rear.

Thanks Scotty...I was hoping "not" to have to get a new hood, but I may have to.  Thanks for the reply!
