Share |

Is it time for new headlights for your fox body? It was for me.

87-93 Mustang 1-Piece Headlight Install

As you can see by the picture this coupe's lights need refreshing. I was sure I was going back with the factory six piece kit that we sell. However, I was in receiving the other day and saw some different options. The one piece Mustang headlights in black, chrome, and smoke. Let's see how they look on the car and how installation goes.

Smoked - 1987-93 Mustang Smoked One Piece Headlight Kit - SDT-13007A - $174.99

Chrome - 1987-93 Mustang Chrome One Piece Headlight Kit - SDT-13007C - $174.99

They all look good and give an updated look to the 87-93 Mustang. The installation does require some wiring of the parking lamps and side markers. The headlight is just plug and play. Depending on your year model Mustang you may need parking light bulbs. The headlight kit does include new headlight bulbs.

Here is how I did the wiring. I chose to retain the factory wiring and sockets in case I ever want to go back to the original style, may be a while these look good, anyway that's why I used the quick connects available at your local hardware store. You can do it this way or cut and splice it's up to you.

First remove the old lights, there are three nuts on the headlight and two on each on the side marker and parking light. An 11mm ratchet is your best friend here.

Now on to the wiring as stated the headlights just plug in so we will look at the side markers first. The new wiring is included in the headlight kit.

Black wire to Black and White to Brown it's the same on both driver and passenger side.

Now on to the parking lamps, passenger side

Driver side parking lamp

Only thing left to do now is to plug the sockets into the new headlight and install. The one piece headlight only has four nuts that hold it in place. The headlight fits into the factory location with no modification needed.

I have to say that I'm impressed with the fitment and ease of installation and the look.

i had a pair of 1pc lights from another website a few years ago and i was wondering if this brand is adjustable?  mine weren't...they just pointed at the ground...not good at night.  also i had to cut out pretty much the whole panel behind the headlights.  maybe i'll try these out on my new fox

Ok I'm looking into getting a mustang that has 6 piece and they happen to have moisture in them. They also have a police strobe kit installed into the headlights.( strictly for show) I was wondering if the one piece headlights had a place for them to sit as well

After following this install when I turn on my headlights the high/low beam dash light is on wether they are on low or high beam.  Also, they are on high when the lever is on low and on low when you move lever towards the dash for high.  Why is my light on and why the reversal of the lever on the column for high/low beams?

I recently purchased a new 1 piece headlight kit for my 91 gt. I printed out your install instructions and wired them in as stated. However, my blinkers do not work. They will light up and stay on but will not flash at all. any ideas?

Hey guys I installed a set & was having same blinker issue, so after some checking & wiggling of wires, bulbs etc I discovered the old bulbs contacts weren't staying fully connected on the new socket. So I replaced the bulbs & they fit/feel much better & work..hopefully this helps as I was kinda irritated at first too!
