Recently, I purchased a 1999 Mustang Cobra. As most folks, or at least most of the ones I know, I started to look at making changes to the car to put my own twist on the car. The previous owner had made some suspension mods and swapped the wheels out for a set of black 18" Saleens. He also upgraded the headlights from the chrome bezel that originally came on the car to the newer black bezels which came on the 2001 and newer Mustangs. All of this was a good start and typically I would not make changes to a Cobra, but since the car has some miles on it and the previous owner started the process, I feel comfortable making the changes and upgrades to my liking.
One thing I wanted to change was the fog lights on the car. If you looked at the front of the car, even on the 2001 Cobra that came with smoked headlights, you will notice the factory fog lights look out of place or at least they do to me.

I knew this was something I had to change, so I started shopping around (checking our website and looking in the warehouse). Lets face it, If we did not have them no one would! Come to find out we did not have them, or so it seemed. I started looking on forums and could not find where anyone with a 1999-01 Cobra has ever changed their fog lights. This was not acceptable for me so I started looking to other year models and in this search I found that the 1994-98 Cobra fog lights are the same diameter with the only difference being the mounting bracket.
My 1999 Cobra has the upgraded head lights so I decided to replace the factory fog lights using the 1994-98 Mustang Cobra Ultra Clear Smoked fog lights part # LRS-15200SM-A.
The first thing I had to do was pull the old lights out and the fog lights come off with the bracket and all as one piece.

Once the fog light has been removed you will want to take out the screw and spring for the adjuster first. You will also need to remove the clip nut.

Once the adjuster screw, spring and clip nut has been removed, you will then need to gently pry the fog light bracket apart to release the fog light.

After this, you simply reinstall the fog light bracket in the same manner as it was pulled apart. I did have a cracked 1999-01 Cobra fog light bezel and they were both replaced with part #'s LRS-15438A and LRS-15438B.
I have to say I was pleased with the out come. Looks like the driving lights that should have come on the Cobra from the factory!

For the folks who do not want to upgrade the factory style head lights to the smoked style, you can use the Ultra Clear fog lights part # LRS-15200CD-A. These are sold with the 1994-98 fog light bracket so it will have to be removed and the stock bracket reused.
