I recently had the opportunity to install a STEEDA cold air
kit on my 2011 Mustang GT. The 2011 Mustang GT 5.0 STEEDA
cold air kit is a very nice piece. STEEDA's kit is available for either the manual or automatic transmission 5.0. Its
stainless steel and composite construction is of the highest quality. The kit includes everything needed to replace
the factory air box and ducting. The
STEEDA kit retains the factory sound tube, and ducts air from the front fascia,
just like the factory kit. The STEEDA
cold air intake kit surpasses the factory unit in flow. The STEEDA cold air intake kit features a
billet aluminum velocity stack and high flow air filter that, combined; provide
a clean, cool, streamlined air charge straight to the engine.

STEEDA claims up to 44 horsepower improvement over stock
when combined with SCT’s calibration and 93 octane premium fuel.
My car was stock when I bolted on the STEEDA cold air intake
kit for the 6-speed manual transmission, save for SCT’s canned 93 octane tune.
I followed STEEDA’s detailed instructions to install the cold air intake
kit in a matter of minutes with basic hand tools. After installing the kit, I re-tuned the car
with my SCT programmer, using a custom BBR tune. SCT’s SF3 tuner already
has a tune available for the STEEDA cold air kit, so no custom tuning is required for the STEEDA kit, but BBR extracts even better throttle response and power with its custom tuning.
Tuning is required for the 2011 Mustang GT STEEDA cold air intake kit. If you don't already have an SCT programmer, we offer additional savings, along with a custom BBR tune with a STEEDA cold air intake kit and SCT tuner combo. Our combo already includes BBR's custom tuning, in addition to SCT's standard canned tunes.

I was astounded by the results. Since day one of owning my 2011 Mustang GT
5.0, I’ve been after improving horsepower, but, moreover, seat of the pants
feel. The STEEDA kit delivers. Mid range and top-end power were noticeably improved,
as well as throttle response. Only a
dyno or timeslips will tell if STEEDA’s cold air intake lives up to the 44 horsepower increase, but the butt meter is telling me that it’s making more
power.
Stay tuned for dyno results and another drag test after the installation of
STEEDA’s cold air intake, and maybe a couple more tricks.
