After I finished up the Airaid Kit, it was time to jack up the car & tackle the Hurst Shifter! Hurst was the first to market with a 2010 Camaro Shifter, & it is a performing beauty. The Hurst Billet/Plus 2 Shifter for the 2010 Camaro SS & RS not only reduces your shift throw by a whopping 44%, it adds a classic look to the interior that truly looks like it belongs.
The owner of the car had plenty of good things to say about the shifter as well. He & many of our other customers who are running this shifter all claim that the improvement in shift feel, reduced throw, & asthetic upgrade make this a must have for any 6-speed Camaro owner. Like the Airaid Kit, the instructions included with the Hurst Camaro Shifter are top notch.
The install took about 45 minutes, & would have gone quicker but for one holdup. The pin that connects the shifter rod to the shifter itself was burred on both sides, causing it to be a minor pain when coming out. Once I got it free, I dressed the burrs with a fine file, lubed it up real good & stuck it back in the hole. For those of you that desire the reduced shift throw, but want to keep a stock appearance, Hurst includes an extra handle that allows you to re-use your stock knob.
Overall, it's a great product from a great company, & not a bad way to spend an hour tinkering with your New Camaro! See below for a link to the full install instructions.
