10 Years of Hot Cars - The vehicles of Latemodel Restoration Supply

Share |

Through the years, Latemodel Restoration Supply has had the privledge of owning and showing off some of the coolest rides around! From fully restored show cars, to rare race cars and hot American super cars. Shannon Guderian, President and owner of Latemodel Restoration Supply, has been one of the main influences of securing most of these vehicles over the years... some of which, still grace our showroom floor and see regular show & track action! Each one has become a part of the LRS tradition, helping to inspire employees, customers, and enthusiasts in their love of the automotive aftermarket.

1995 Cobra

This was one of Shannon's earliest projects. A 1995 Cobra/ Cobra R clone which featured a Powerdyne supercharger and custom SVE decals similar to the CJR 6.1L Prototype car.

1995 White Cobra

2001 F-150 Lightning

Switching to horsepower with a bed, this 2001 Ford F-150 Lightning was one of the next vehicles in the LRS lineup. The truck routinely saw track time and made it to many LRS events. It helped to move us to our new building in 2003, and even helped haul our 40th Anniversary display to Tennessee in 2004!

1982 Mustang GT

This fully restored 1982 GT was a great example of what LRS had to offer for the early four-eyed Mustangs. It incorporated a whole slew of LRS Mustang restoration parts including moldings, weatherstrip, lights, carpet, upholstery, emblems, and more!

1982 Ford Mustang GT

1986 Mustang SVO

1986 was the last year of the turbo- 4cyl SVO mustang, and LRS was happy to own one of these cars. These cars were said to be some of the best looking fox bodies ever made. Our car featured 5-lug '95 Cobra R style wheels and many new restoration parts.

1986 50Resto SVO

1984 Mustang GT-350

This one-of-a-kind GT-350 fox body resto mod featured a fully restored chassis, all completed by Shannon and other LRS staff. It made it's debut at the Mustang 40th Anniversary in Nashville, TN. It was essentially stripped down and built from the ground up with all new suspension components, SSBC FX4 brakes, carpet, seats, roll cage, and a new paint job. It was finished off with 2003 style cobra wheels. ( Oh yea, and did we mention a 2003 32v supercharged Cobra motor pushing over 400rwhp?)

2003 Mustang Cobra

This Dark Shadow Grey 2003 Mustang Cobra was purchased new in 2003 when the new "Terminators" first hit the streets.

Charcoal Gray 2003 Ford Mustang Cobra

1979 Mustang Pace Car

Shannon picked up this pristine 1979 Mustang Pace Car in late 2003 from California. This car is a perfect candidate for what our company stands for.  A true step back in time, the interior and exterior look as good as they did 30 years ago, and the car still calls LRS it's home in our 1,800 sqft showroom! An interesting fact that makes this car even rarer: It is a Canadian built pace car so the gauges are in KM/H, which are just a click above 5390 total kilometers (or 3350 miles)

2000 Mustang Cobra R

LRS was able to acquire this 2000 Cobra in 2004. It is #279 of just 300 vehicles built. This car features a naturally aspirated 385hp 5.4L V8. Like its predecessor, the '95 Cobra R, it also was a true race inspired vehicle which lacked the normal creature comforts such as A/C, a rear seat, or sound deadening material. Our "R" has already seen numerous track appearances including the 2006 Mid America Shelby Meet where Shannon took the car to a 1st place win in the Latemodel road race! It has been given numerous decals to make it resemble the Cobra R concept car that was debuted in '99 and still sits in our showroom today!

2000 Cobra R

2004 Mustang Mach 1

This Screaming Yellow Mach 1 was purchased new in late 2003 and frequented the LRS parking lot. The new MACH 1 had the best of both worlds at the time. The power of the 32v DOHC Cobra motor, and the streetability of the rear solid axle.

2005 Mustang GT

With the emergance of the new S197 Mustang, it seemed only fitting for LRS to jump on the wagon.  This Screaming Yellow 2005 Mustang GT with the new 5R55 automatic was obtained in late 2004. It received it's own unique touches including BBS wheels, Bassani exhaust, a Steeda race wing & front splitter, and a Vortech supercharger.

2005 Mustang GT

1990 454 SS Chevrolet Silverado

Shifting gears to our new C/K line, LRS purchased this 1990 454 SS Chevrolet Silverado dubbed "Project Black Sheep". The truck was fitted with loads of new interior restoration parts, new grille & headlight kit, bumpers, moldings, mirrors, exhaust, and a set of 20" American Eagle wheels.

1990 454 SS Project

2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Duramax

This 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 crew cab served as great transportation to LRS events and many other outings. It included a 6" Pro-Comp lift kit, 20" Helo Max 8 wheels wrapped in 325/60/20 Nitto Terra Grapplers, and a superchips tune.

2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Duramax

1993 SSP DPS Mustang Coupe

This super clean example of an actual 5.0L 1993 Texas DPS state trooper car was picked up by Shannon and modified with a few custom exterior decals, re-finished wheels, and other restoration touch ups.

1993 LRS SSP Mustang

2005 Ford GT

LRS had the privledge to own it's very own Ford GT supercar! This mid-engined monster featured a 5.4L supercharged modular V8 and 550hp. This car was definately a head turner and was a true race car, inside and out. Shannon even got the chance to have the car signed by Carrol Shelby in person. It was a testiment to how hard our company had worked up until that point, and proved to be a milestone of sucess for all LRS employees.

Ford GT

2007 Mustang Shelby GT-500

LRS aqcuired this new 2007 Shelby GT-500 in late 2006. The performance white and vista blue color scheme looked killer on this car. It was decked out with custom letters and decals and taken to the Mid America Shelby Meet in 2007.

2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

1995 Mustang Cobra R

This '95 Cobra R was the second "R" model to call LRS home, with only about 6,000 miles on the ticker, it is definately a solid car. This is #227 of only 250 Cobra R's made in 1995. The interior still smells new. It has also seen regular track events such as the Mid America Shelby Meet in 2008 and SVTOA events. You can see this '95 R along with some of our other showroom vehicles at our 10th Anniversary Celebration @ Texas Motorplex on 11-14-09!

1995 Ford Mustang Cobra R

1989 JBA Dominator Mustang

Purchased by Latemodel Restoration Supply in 2008. Road course Track time has been logged at the 2008 SVTOA event at Texas World Speedway in Bryan and at the Tulsa Shelby Meet in Tulsa Oklahoma. Many people at those events stopped by once they realized that this was the ORIGINAL Road & Track shoot out car and told stories about how they remember it in all the magazines. It was a pleasure for LRS have had the chance to own one of the most influential fox bodies of all time. For more information on the JBA Dominator, check out it's website.

JBA Dominator GTA

2008 Dodge Challenger SRT-8

With Dodge getting back into the "pony" car business, the arrival of the all new 2008 Challenger led LRS to purchase one of it's own for research purposes and to launch our all new line of Dodge Challenger parts. Our Challenger SRT-8 model featured an impressive 425hp and was later upgraded with chrome interior accents, KMC Nova 22" wheels, our budget exhaust kit, 3.55 gears, and a performance tune.

1993 SVT Mustang Cobra (10th Anniversary Raffle Car)

We recently had the opportunity to purchase this clean 1993 Cobra from one of our good friends and customers.  We jumped at the chance to purchase this solid, mostly stock car. The car had already been through a thorough makover, and it was a solid, rust-free, non-wrecked example.

The previous owner is a local Texas customer. It is in solid, original condition with the exception of some Ford Racing shorty headers, an off-road H-pipe, Flowmaster cat-back, and 3.73 gears.  The previous owner took the time to pull the ground effects, bumper covers, handles, moldings, lights, and trim off to have a quality repaint performed. The car was repainted in its original color, then reassembled with new roof rail moldings, new OEM Ford quarter windows, new door moldings, belt moldings, and lights. The original wheels had flaking paint, so they were refinished as well.

This is the official grand prize for our 10th Anniversary Celebration raffle at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis, TX on 11-14-09! For more details on the raffle and the car, visit our 1993 Vibrant Red Cobra blog!

Justin Burcham & Michael Washington - JPC Racing/50Resto Race Team

LRS also has had the opportunity over the years to sponsor some great race cars and great drivers! 2 of these include Justin Burcham and Michael Washington both of JPC Racing. Both drivers won many NMRA titles and 2 championships under the 50Resto flag and we were proud to be able to work with them early on in our history.

John George - American Iron 50Resto Mustang

John George took his 1989 50Resto Mustang Coupe to both 2004 and 2005 American Iron championship wins. Fans got an up close look at his car at Mustang's 40th Anniversary event in Nashville, TN where his car was featured in the 50Resto paddock.

24 Hours of LeMons - 50Resto Mustangs

On a lighter side of racing, the 24 Hours of LeMons race included vehicles valued at $500 or less. 50Resto sponsored a pair of nasty fox body Mustangs, with the Formula M for "Mullet" Mustang taking the flag! For more information on the 24 Hours of Lemons race, check out the picture/link below.

I've been fortunate enough to experience all of these cars up close and in person.  Driven a few of them, and experienced the restoration/build process of them as well.  I had never had any experience with Fox Mustangs until meeting Shannon and buying my first one from him. That's how I got to where I am now.

So many awesome cars in that list but I'm kind of partial to the car with the shortest description, yes that lonely old 2003 DSG Cobra. Not sure why either since I've been in love with Foxbody Mustangs since before I had my drivers liscense. Unfortunately it's been a few years since I sold my 92' GT -to Shannon coincidently! I still miss that car and would love to get it back. Maybe someday.

Have you ever considered expanding into a Canada location to service the large Canadian Muscle car enthusiasts of this era. There is a large interest in restoration and modifying of late model cars and restoration of all the products that you offer.I find that being up here it is hard to convince this market to buy from the U.S.market due to the fact that of the exchange rates duties and taxes imposed on receving parts from the U.S.I may also add that the few suppliers her in your line of business are far from what you call enthusiasts of the car market and more of business minded people trying to roll over there own neighbours.Any comment you may have would greatly be appreciated Vince Cristello, also would have loved to be at your anniversary show but given my work schedule does not allow but purchased a ticket the same for the raffle, again thanks for your time and good luck in the many years ahead of you keep up the awesome business.

Vince, although we would love to have a warehouse in the great white north, it may be a little too cold up there for us! Have you ever seen a Texan drive in snow? It is not a pretty sight for sure! Ha Ha. Right now we do not have any plans to open an alternate location. Unfortunately, our Canadian customers(and we have quite a few) usually just pay the extra duties or ship it stateside and carry it over or they work everything through a broker. There are several wholesale customers that we sell to in Canada and I hope that you have not had any problems with them. If you feel like one of our wholesalers has treated you unfairly we would like to know and would like to discuss this more in depth. Please email our sales manger mike.linley@latemodelrestoration.com.  Sorry you will not be able to make it to our event, but I hope you win one of our many prizes!
