10th Anniversary Raffle! Win TONS of Prizes Including a 1993 COBRA!

Share |

Well, we let the cat out of the bag.  Most of you already know that we'll be raffling off our 1993 Cobra at our 10th Anniversary Celebration. We're very excited to have come up with a long list of raffle prizes, as well as our '93 Cobra.  Hopefully, all of you will participate in the raffle.  We'll keep you posted as to the exact odds, but I can say this...

MANY winners will walk away with the opportunity to win a prize.

Prizes will come in many varieties.  Below is a list of the products that have already been committed:

The grand prize will be our 1993 Vibrant Red Cobra, or $6500 cash.  Also in the raffle, we'll have a crate motor from Ford Racing Performance Parts, sets of Sumitomo tires, a $350 gift certificate for a suspension kit from Eibach, a complete convertible top kit from Electron tops, a complete leather upholstery kit from Distinctive industries, a set of KYB shocks or struts, a Mishimoto radiator, $200 gift certificate for any drop kit from DJM, an LRS economy engine short block, the list goes on and on....

Raffle prizes total over $30,000 in retail value! Suffice it to say, the odds will be very good that ticket holders will come away happy.

Raffle tickets will cost $25 each.  There is no limit to how many raffle tickets one person can buy, but we will only be offering 1000 entries, so get in on the action now!  Think of the odds!  Buy more tickets, and your chances to win increase exponentially.

Thanks for your patronage and good luck!!

*Mail order ticket sales will end at 5:00pm CST on 11/11/09, OR when all 1000 tickets are sold, whichever comes first.  If all 1000 tickets are not sold, tickets will be available at the show on 11/14/09.  Don't wait until the tickets are sold out!  Get your ticket orders in now!

Please read our Official Contest & Raffle Rules for more information.

Great news!  Our raffle has been a huge success.  Due to the overwhelming response, tickets for customers not attending the show have sold out.  Remaining tickets are reserved for customers attending the 10th anniversary celebration, and will be available at our raffle booth at the show.  We appreciate all of your participation, and wish you the best of luck in the raffle!  See you at the show!

Does not directly say "Participant does not have to be present to win."

Do you have to be present to win? Just wanted to be clear on that.

You do not have to be present to win any of the raffle prizes. If your ticket is pulled you will be contacted and arrangements made for you to receive your prize.

Tickets will be on sale until the time of drawing unless they sell out before hand.  Remember there are only 1,000 tickets available so once they are sold out they are gone. Get them while they last.

If all 1000 tickets are not sold, is the raffle off and do participants get a refund?

Jandmmustangs, Great question!  Blog has been edited.  Mail order ticket sales will end on 11/9/09, or when all 1000 tickets are sold, whichever comes first.  If all tickets are not sold by 11/9/09, tickets will be available at the 10th Anniversary Celebration on 11/14/09.

SCOTTY2THAG said:

Sorry, Scott S's response was referring to the net's question about the last day to buy tickets.

Jandmmustangs, the raffle will still take place, even if all tickets aren't sold!

It is asking me which method of shipping I want.  Do I just select free 10th anniversary shipping?

October 5, 2009 4:16 PM

SCOTTY2THAG said:

Kevin you are correct.  If you are buying raffle tickets or pre-registrations only, you will be able to select the 10th anniversary free shipping.  If there is anything else in your shopping cart then this option should not available.

Thanks!

Order placed.  Sure would be nice having a red 93 in the garage next to my teal one. :)

If the winner of the car does not wish to pick it up in person, then they can arrange to have it shipped to their desired location.

If your name is drawn do you call and ask for information on what Mustang you own so the part you get will work on your car? And I'm reading that you can either take the '93 Cobra or $6500 cash... is the cash taxed as well? Is it a shopping spree on your web site?

Dave said:

Is the contest only open to people of the USA ?

October 6, 2009 1:32 PM

scott s said:

Greg, the prizes given are not based on your vehicle.  The only option you have in winning is if you win the Cobra, you have the option to take the cash instead.  The cash is not taxed at the time it is received.  It would be up to you to claim it as income when you file your tax return.  Due to raffle laws, we do have to collect tax on the Cobra at the time of release, because of it's value.  See raffle rules for more on this.

scott s said:

Dave, see raffle rules.  Raffle is open to international customers, though the tax rate on the Cobra differs from residents.

Ok I already have my raffle ticket and possibly going to get another one... but so I am clear on this, say I won the KYB Shocks.. they will just be any set of shocks or will they fit a 2004 Mustang GT? Or even the Sumitomo Tires are they going to be the size that fit my car or just any size that you're raffling off? I'm not trying to be a pain by asking these questions just I would like to know if I'm wining something I could use.

SCOTTY2THAG said:

Greg, I see where your question is coming from.  The prizes that could be universal will be able to be tailored to your specific application, i.e the set of tires will be tires that you can use.  You won't be stuck with a set of mud terrain tires for your Mustang. That being said, there are also some prizes that are specific prizes. For example, if you win the Ford Racing motor, it is a 5.0 pushrod motor and would not be able to be substituted for a 4.6 Modular Motor.  Hope that clears things up if not let me know and I'll make sure and get your questions answered.

So if won I would have to pay your state tax and mine?  The state i live in charges state tax at time of registration.

That definitely clears things up for me thank you very much... i hope i win SOMETHING lol

Mike Knittel said:

LRS Staff can confirm, but to answer Zicca (I think), the tax LRS would collect for winning the car is INCOME tax to the IRS.  Your state will charge SALES tax at the time of registration, and possibly INCOME tax as well, depending on your state tax laws.

DISCLAIMER: I am not a tax professional, just my understanding of the issue.  Consult a tax professional to get a 100% accurate answer.

October 6, 2009 9:30 PM

scott s said:

Mike Knittel, you are correct.  The Income tax must be collected by us on the Cobra, at the time of it's release to the customer.  The income tax will run $2325.  Due to IRS gaming regulations, we have to collect and remit that on the winner's behalf.  It will be the winner's responsibility to pay sales tax and registration on the car in thier state when they get it there.  For raffle purposes, the fair market value of the car is stated at $9300.  $2325 is calculated as 25% of that value.  For international customers, that number is calculated at 30%.

I know, it sucks, but it's the way any law-abiding raffle works.  The government wants to make sure they "get thiers" on prizes of higher value.  It's normally in the fine print.  We've offered the cash prize in lieu of the Cobra for this reason.

All other prizes fall beneath the threshhold the IRS requires for us to collect income tax, so we will not be required to withhold taxes for any other prizes, that includes the $6500 cash prize, if chosen in lieu of the Cobra.  Winners will need to consult with thier tax professional to claim these prizes on thier own tax return.

I just pre-registered for the 10th Anniv. Event and bought some raffle tickets. I clicked on the free shipping which I did get.. but the check out system charged me state sales tax on them.  Why is Texas sales tax being charged since this is an event "i.e. service.. not a good/product" same for the raffle tickets?  I have never been charged taxes at an event registration or raffle and just curious....

DP:  The site has been corrected.  Raffle tickets and pre-registrations are tax exempt.  No sales of raffle tickets or pre-registrations have been charged tax.

Got bought some tickets, and thinking about more... that engine would be nice in my 89 LX Convertible, and that Cobra would look great parked next to my LX.

Is there a complete list of prizes for the raffle yet that has been published?  Just wondering about "the list goes on and on...."

How about a live web feed/update during the drawing for those that cannot attend?

@Tim - Not sure about a live feed but I will be posting to Twitter all day about different goings on at the event. I will probably ask all of the other Twitter users to use the #lrs10th hashtag so that we can see what people think about the event.

We will probably post a few status updates with pictures/videos to Facebook, but less frequent than on Twitter.

We will also be taking tons of video which we will post to Flickr, YouTube and of course our blog.

What about a (more) complete list of prizes?  Sounds like there will be more than what is listed above.

Just thinking of posting raffle winners somewhere for those of us unable to make the event but who have bought tickets.  How long do we have to wait to find out if we won?

Thanks!
