Latemodel Restoration's 1993 Vibrant Red Cobra

Share |

If you've watched our blogs, you know what my opinion is of '93 Cobras.  Whether you believe that's it's the best Mustang ever or not, you must believe that it's one of the best, and certainly a high point in the 1979-93 or Fox Mustang model run.  It seems only fitting that Latemodel Restoration Supply should own one of these cars.

We recently had the opportunity to purchase a clean 1993 Cobra from one of our good friends and customers.  We jumped at the chance to purchase this solid, mostly stock car. The car had already been through a thorough makover, and it was a solid, rust-free, non-wrecked example.

The previous owner is a local Texas customer.  He purchased the car because he always wanted a 93 Cobra.  He also wanted an affordable Cobra that was complete and original.  He wanted one he could drive without worrying about racking up miles.  He found this Vibrant Red car with gray leather interior.  The car was in solid, original condition with the exception of some Ford Racing shorty headers, an off-road H-pipe, Flowmaster cat-back, and 3.73 gears.  The original paint was faded, the seats were torn, and it needed some minor tlc, but it was a perfect candidate for a quick resto, and it wasn't a low-mileage garage queen, so he wouldn't feel bad about driving the wheels off it.

Promptly after buying the car, the previous owner took the time to pull the ground effects, bumper covers, handles, moldings, lights, and trim off to have a quality repaint performed. The car was repainted in its original color, then reassembled with new roof rail moldings, new OEM Ford quarter windows, new door moldings, belt moldings, and lights. The original wheels had flaking paint, so they were refinished as well.

With the exterior in check, the interior was treated to a new set of leather seat upholstery, carpet, door panels and floor mats.  The original non-working radio was replaced with a Sirius-equipped Kenwood deck, new Kenwood replacement speakers, and a single 10" sub.

The car's original 150k driveline was in good condition, so it was left alone in plans for future modifications.

Well, plans and ideas change.  The previous owner found himself in the position to purchase a new toy (a 2006 ZO6 Corvette), so he offered the Cobra to us.

Well, we've gone back and forth over here as to what we want to do with the car. It looks great sitting in our showroom, but it's a shame that we don't have the time to dedicate to the car.  We've already got the 2000 Cobra R that serves track duty, and the 1995 Cobra R and 1979 Indy Pace Car replica on display. We are running out of space in the showroom!

After many a debate, we've decided to pass the car along. Our original plans were to sell the car, but in spirit of our 10 years of successfully serving the Mustang community, we decided that we would give one of our customers a chance to own it!

That's right...one of you lucky customers will get the chance to win this Cobra!  Keep an eye open for the details of our 10th Anniversary Celebration and raffle. You just may be the one to win this 1993 Vibrant Red Mustang Cobra, among many other prizes. Stay tuned for details!

RAFFLE TICKETS NOW AVAILABLE!

Great news!  Our raffle has been a huge success.  Due to the overwhelming response, tickets for customers not attending the show have sold out.  Remaining tickets are reserved for customers attending the 10th anniversary celebration, and will be available at our raffle booth at the show.  We appreciate all of your participation, and wish you the best of luck in the raffle!  See you at the show!

Man, I hope I win that car. I had a perfect, 30,000 mile 93 cobra just 5 years ago. i had to make a decision between the car and my house. Right after I sold it, the prices for them skyrocketed, leaving me unable to get another one. If I'm lucky enough to win, this one wont get away.

The previous owner tackled all of the cosmetic aspects of the car first so it could be a good Driver car that would turn heads.  Next on his list of to-do's was the engine compartment as well as some go fast goodies. That is when he came across the chance to get the ZO6 so all modifications stopped and he sold the car to us. As you stated it does show it's age but I've definately seen alot worse and it's nothing that can't be remedied with a little cleaner and elbow grease.

Great looking car, I hope whoever wins it enjoys it! I am fortunate to own a 1993 Cobra, Vibrant Red with cloth interior, with just a little over 72 thousand miles on it, its about 99% original with just a few mods (K&N filter, Pro 5.0 shifter, Off Road pipe and Eibach springs). I was lucky when I found this 10 years ago, the original owner kept all the protective shipping material that shipped with the car from the SVT team to the dealership.. its also a low production number car..number 595. I love my Cobra and the fact it draws alot of attention where ever I go.
