This is an opportunity for one lucky enthusiast to own the legendary JBA Dominator GTA.  It is listed on eBay with a buy it now price of $34,500 or we are entertaining all reasonable offers.  For more information, read the auction description below or follow this link directly to the eBay auction page:

1989 JBA Dominator Mustang Auction

Up for sale is Latemodel Restoration Supply’s one-of-a-kind JBA Dominator GTA Mustang.  This car was provided by Ford to J. Bittle American in 1989 with the intention of using it as a test base for such future innovations as independent rear suspensions and modular engines; technology that wouldn’t be seen in Mustangs for 10 years.  JBA initially built the Dominator to compete in “Road & Track” magazine’s November 17, 1989 “Supercars” issue, where it competed in a high-speed shootout against other renowned supercars of the day such as Gottlieb’s “Big Red” Camaro, Chevrolet Engineering’s 8.3l IROC-Z, and other Factory-built or backed cars.  The Dominator appeared on the cover of that magazine, and was front-and-center on the table of contents.  Since then, one of the most publicized Fox body Mustangs to date has appeared on the cover of September 1989 “Popular Hot Rodding” magazine, was featured in the November 1989 issue of “Popular Hot Rodding”, the cover of the June 1991 issue of “Super Fords” magazine, countless JBA catalogs and promotions, and, most recently, the cover of Latemodel Restoration Supply’s catalog.  “5.0 and Super Fords” April 2009 issue celebrated 30 years of the Fox body.  The JBA Dominator Mustang was again pictured and mentioned in that issue as one of the magazine’s choices for Top 10 specialty foxes, along with other obscure and very-limited historical fox body Mustangs.

The Dominator’s current powerplant is a very street-able, powerful, Lightning 351 engine with GT-40 iron heads, and custom Cobra intake manifold.  The engine is backed by a 6-speed transmission, and t-bird independent rear suspension.  This may very well be one of the first Mustangs to be equipped with an independent rear.  Aeromotive pump, aircraft braided lines, and a custom cell provide fuel to the 351.  A combination of JBA and Flowmaster exhaust gives the car a powerful rumble.

Braking is 4-wheel disc consisting of Lincoln front and t-bird rear components.  The wheels are custom Monocoque 2-piece units measuring 17x9” in the front and 17x11” in the rear.

At only 14,000 miles, the car is aging well.  This car was never intended to be a show car, though.  The paint looks very good, but it has it has the flaws expected from an older job.  The Recaro front seats are in very nice condition, but are original to the car, so they do show age at the seams.  Overall, the car is still in very nice condition, worthy of any collection.

Many photos of the Dominator show it with a tall, 2-point rear wing.  This was installed by JBA after the car’s initial build.  The wing is similar to the one offered in JBA’s Dominator’s GTB body kit, which was designed after the custom, all-steel “wide body” body work on this car.  The original iteration of the car included a Capri hatch, which has been re-painted and reinstalled by Latemodel Restoration Supply.  The GTB-style hatch is also included with the car.

As one of the most documented Fox body Mustangs to date, this car includes a wealth of pictures, magazines, letters, video, and even its own website.  All of which are included in this sale.  Here is the address to the site that will belong to the new owner of the car upon sale.

Numerous additional pictures of the car are on the website.

Don’t miss this opportunity to own an important piece of Mustang history.  Buy it now is very affordable for such a significant car.  Please submit your offers.  This is an absolute sale.  This car is sure to appreciate as the demand for 80’s and 90’s musclecars increases.  Values for other limited production Mustangs such as the 93 Mustang Cobra R are  already reaching staggering numbers.  Own this 1-of-1 car for much less.

andrew holt - as long as you have a donor car of the same vintage, swapping the computer & harnesses is as simple as unplugging & plugging back in.  You'll need the PCM, PCM harness, engine harness, & headlight harness off of the 5.0L car.

The wheels and tires are $34,500 and are in stock ready to ship. Buy today and you get a one off rare 1989 Mustang supercar for FREE! Ha, Ha, actually the wheels are Monocoque(?) 2 pc alloy wheels and were EXPENSIVE back in 1989 when they were put on the car. I doubt you could find a set today.

jmac- thanks for the info. yea idk the 2.3 liter is an 89 and the 5.0 that i want to transplant to the 89 is from a 90. i don't know if thats the year they changed harnesses but i know the 2.3 liters in the 90's were changed. they were a little more beafy and used a coil pack instead of a distributor. I just need to take a better look.

Yep, there were changes that have to do with the airbag setup & several of the pin locations were changed in a few connectors.  If you have the whole 90 donor car, go ahead & swap out the dash harness, instrument cluster, & instrument cluster trim as well.
