Mission Accomplished: 12 sec pass!!

Share |

Well, I finally got the job done! I got a set of 4.10 gears installed. Went out to a local track this last weekend. After multiple runs and getting use to the new gears I finally got my 12 second pass in my car. After letting the car sit for about 45 minutes, it went 12.87... down side....I didn't drive it on the run. I let my younger brother drive and sure enough he runs a 12 sec pass his first run. Needless to say I quickly followed it up with a 12.92 run.

This new body style car is solid and makes good power easily. We never did get a LRS Challenger run vs. Me and I didn't get any video or pictures this time. This was mainly due to the fact that I continually ran the car all night.... I guess I was a little race deprived.

Second to last run- Neal ( My brother) Driver after the car set for about 45 mins
60ft............... 1.747
1/8 MPH........ 83.45
1/8 mile......... 8.149
¼ mile.......... 12.879
¼ MPH......... 105.85

Last run of the night - My offical 12 sec run
60ft................  1.741
1/8 MPH.......  83.10
1/8 mile.........  8.240
¼ mile.......... 12.919
¼ MPH......... 105.03

Best Launch of the Night: Hand slipped off shifter to miss third
Run #4
60ft.............. 1.682
1/8 MPH...... 84.19
1/8 mile
¼ mile
¼ MPH

Again, here is a list of what is done to the car to this point:

  1. JLT intake $189.95

  2. SCT X3 $379.95

  3. Ford Racing 4.10 Gears Kit $259.95

  4. BMR lower Control Arms $134.95

Those parts come in under $1,000 for a easy 12 sec car!!! If anyone wants to know a good performance kit for their 05-09 Mustang this would be my suggestion. These parts lay down a great foundation for all future modifications.

I guess now that I reached my goal, I need to set a new one. I also need to add some new performance mods to the car. So all you Mustang guys, let me get some suggestions on new goals I should set for my car. Mods I am looking at adding in the near future: wheels, exhaust and few more suspension mods.

Were you running slicks or drag radials?

I can't believe that's all that it takes to get those cars into the 12's. My old 95 GTS ran similar times but had a lot more mods than yours does.

I guess that's a testament to technology.

I ran on Mickey Thompson ET Streets. They are the cross between slicks and drag radials.

As for the times, They really are not bad for a car that weighs 3700 with a full tank and me in it. I actually raced with half a tank.

I think it was just because of the expert gear install that the car went so quick! ;-)

About jjimenez

I have and always will be a Mustang fanatic! My first car was a V6 Mustang after putting myself through college and LOTS of saving.... I recently purchased a 2008 Mustang GT. Most of my Mustang experience lies in the modular motors. I have built and swapped multiple mod motors in the past.
