2010 Mustang: Interior

Share |

Ford did a great job with the interior! The best way to describe the interior is “Refined” and “Technologically Advanced”. With all the new features that were put into the new Mustang you might just think you are driving a BMW or some other form of luxury car. Ford took an already nice interior and refined it and cleaned it up. The layout is basically the same; I'll review a few of the new nice changes for you.

Seating:

The overall design of the seats is not that different. Ford has given a lot of new colors and options when it comes to the seats. The standard seats come in one solid color and look exactly like the 05-09 seats. They will be available in Stone, Charcoal & Saddle (Yes, Saddle color is back!!). The upgraded seats will feature a leather accent in the middle of the seat. These will be available in Brick Red w/ Cashmere Accent, Charcoal Black w/ Blue Accent or Charcoal Black w/ Cashmere Accent. Door panel accents are also an option to match your seats.

Center Console:

The center console was given a very clean look. The armrest pad was brought flush with the whole console; it was also given a lock to keep people out. Great place to lock up your tuner and Ipod. The cup holder is hidden and will flip open; a throw back to the old ash trays. The cup hold will also have an option for the accent lighting (Ambient Lighting) that was available on later model S197s. You will also notice that the interior upgrade with give you a shift knob similar to the Bullitt knobs.

Entertainment Center!!!:

The Mustang finally got SYNC as an option! If you are not familiar with this option, Sync lets you use voice activation to control the stereo, Bluetooth devices (cell phones included) and almost all portable MP3 players. This is a very nice feature to have. Navigation system is also an option again w/ an eight inch screen. This screen will be used for the reverse camera system that is now an option. Also the AC controls are now Dual-Zone. Thats right guys and girls... if you passenger is hot and your cold they can control the “Zone” however they like. Also, options for heated seats will be available.

Steering Wheel:

Yes the steering wheel is finally something to really talk about. With the steering wheel you can now control the SYNC system, stereo and of course cruise control. The steering wheel also has an option for accent matching leather.

Dash:

The dash was changed but it wasn't changed. The look stayed true to the 05-09 models just modernized and cleaned up to match the rest of the car. The gages were pushed back and set level with the dash. They no longer have the protruding covers around them. A lot of pieces are still accented with chrome trim. Another big change are the center AC vents are now square to match allow for the larger stereo system.

Other options and features:

Shaker systems are back (500 & 100), Premium floor mats feature embroidered Tri-bar Pony logo, Auto-dimming rear view mirror with compass, HID headlights, Glass roof (available late 2009); Heated seats, and adjustable electronic stability control.

I like the interior. It looks retro and simple. I'm glad that Ford added the SYNC feature a well as the back-up camera with the nav setup. Not sure about no armrest, and I wornder if the cup holder door will break like the fox body ashtray door. Surely they have a better design than from 20 years ago, right?

jjimenez, I just read "About jjimenez", and we have a lot in common.  I, too, am a diehard mustang fan and spend all my days on the net looking for new info about them.  My first car (and the car I still drive today) is a 1994 white mustang convertible with the V6.  That car is special beyond words, and, thanks to it's reliability, I have somehow managed to graduate college this year (December 2008).  I start my new nursing career in less than two weeks from now, and I look forward to adding another pony to my corral.  I will be keeping my 94 due to immense sentimental value, as I'm not sure I could bear to part with her.  The 2010 will be a welcome addition, and I hope she will turn my husband into a mustang lover, since he's a fan of the camaro.  Yeah, I married the enemy, but he's a good one.  Anyway, I wanted you to know that you aren't alone in your love for mustangs, and that there are other crazies out there like you.  I guess I do have one question, though.  Are you sure the glass roof option doesn't come out until late 2009?  I was under the impression that those will be available right away.  when I went and spoke with my local Ford dealer about them, I'm pretty sure I brought that up, and I don't recall the dealer saying that wouldn't be possible yet.  But, maybe I didn't mention it.  Oh well.  I think that the dealerships can install them themselves, if it doesn't come from the factory that way.  Isn't it a dealer install option?  Well, thanx for the excellent interior review.

The glass top option is available now for the 2009 model; however, for the new body style the glass top option will not be available when the new Mustang hits the market. It will follow a short time after the initial release of the new body style.

PS You found the right website to look around. Pretty much every person here is a Mustang fanatic. You fit right in with us!!!!

About jjimenez

I have and always will be a Mustang fanatic! My first car was a V6 Mustang after putting myself through college and LOTS of saving.... I recently purchased a 2008 Mustang GT. Most of my Mustang experience lies in the modular motors. My brother and I have built and swapped multiple mod motors in the past. We have perfected the SN95 V6 motor swaps!! LOL
