I'd like to start off by apologizing for the pictures. The C&L Racer install was done in the dark after work. Now, on to the good stuff!
One thing we Mustang nuts are always in search of is more power. One of the easiest ways to add power to an 05-06-07-08-09 Mustang GT is to add a Cold Air Intake Kit. Plus, being most aftermarket Cold Air Intake Kits require a computer reflash, you have a good excuse to add a Programmer or Tuner of your choice at the same time. Follow along as I install a C&L Racer Cold Air Intake Kit on my former 2007 Mustang GT.
Here we have the stock 2005-2006-2007-2008-2009 Mustang Air Intake setup. Awe inspiring, isn't it?
Start by sliding back the red retainer & removing the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF) connector.

Go over to the the Throttle Body area & remove the vent tube. There is a green tab on the bottom of the connector. Push it away from you & pull the tube away from the nipple.

Go over to the Valve Cover connection for the vent tube & remove it in the same fassion. This tube will not be re-used.

Using an 8mm nut driver (or equivalent), loosen the Air Inlet Tube clamp.

Over at the Air Box, using a 10mm nut driver (or equivalent), remove the Air Box retaining bolt.

Remove the Air Inlet Tube from the Throttle Body.....

.....and lift the whole assembly from the vehicle.

Be carefull when you open up the box containing your C&L Racer Intake, as C&L uses plenty of packing peanuts!

Once all the peanuts are out of the way, here are the goodies.

Start by sliding on the blue rubber boots & loosly installing the clamps.

C&L includes the needed T20 torx bit for the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF). Use a 1/4" nut driver (or equivalent) along with the torx bit to remove the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF) from the Stock Air Intake.

Grab the new C&L Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF) housing. You'll notice that you have a small lip & a big lip. The small lip slides in next to the inlet tube & the big lip is for the filter. Position the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF) slot so that it is pointing back toward the firewall.

C&L includes new screws for the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF), but I chose to re-use the factory ones. The sensor will only install in the housing one way & the flow arrow should be pointing toward the inlet tube. If it is pointing toward the air filter, flip the MAF housing around.

Now install the plastic air filter shield using the factory 10mm bolt that held in the air box. C&L includes a zip tie so you can further retain the filter shield to an ABS brake line.

Side note - If the metal bushing from the stock airbox stays on the 10mm retaining bolt, you will need to remove it.

Now put the new C&L Racer Inlet Tube on your Mustang.

Slide the rubber hose from the Inlet Tube on to the nipple on the Valve Cover.

Slide on the Air Filter.......

......and tighten all the clamps.

Plug in the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF) connector & your done with the mechanical part of the install!

The C&L Racer Intake for 05-06-07-08-09 Mustang GT has a massive 95mm Air Inlet & requires a computer re-tune for your Mustang to operate safely. The Diablo Pedator DST-U7140, DST-U7145, & the SCT-3015 are all pre-programmed with a tune for the C&L Racer Intake, as well as many others.
Once you load the appropriate tune, start your Mustang & take it for a test drive. All should be right with the world & your butt-meter will be registering all that extra Horsepower you just added - I know mine did!
