If you are changing wheels on your Challenger, don't forget the tire sensors...

Share |

When upgrading your wheels from factory, you have three options.

1. You can break down your factory wheels and pull the Tire Pressure Sensor Monitors from them, which is a hassle and means that you cannot easily sell or go back to your factory wheels in an emergency.

2. You can add new wheels without the sensors and just drive around with that annoying light on the gauges telling you that there is a problem.

3. You can have new Tire Pressure Sensor Monitors added when you buy your wheels from Latemodel Restoration Supply (LRS). You can also buy them seperately. These sensors are genuine Mopar parts and are specific to the Challenger. (We know, because we tried ones from a Charger and they did not work!)

Once installed and driven, these sensors will learn or pick-up the signal from the computer in the Challenger and that annoying light will go away within a couple of miles.

Don't be fooled, we found out the hard way.
Here is a link to our sensors.

Thats so dumb. now you cant even change wheels without some stupid light coming on, whats next a light for when your over weight and wrinkling the leather? I'll take my 2003 Mustang Mach 1 over that any day. people rag on ford about being in the stone age. im glad they are because its much easier to do stuff to my car and not have to worry about a bunch of damn light coming on.

I fully agree Trey.  Unfortunately, the tire pressure warning systems are government mandated & are already in use on every vehicle sold from 2007 on up.  I have them on my 07 Mustang GT & they were no walk in the park when adding aftermarket wheels.  Ultimately, they are in place for our safety, or at least that's what big brother says!
