Shedding some light on replacement lighting

Share |

Everyone has heard tale of, or seen first hand, a headlight or taillight with condensation built up in the lens.  Maybe some had so much condensation that you could add a goldfish.

Basically any vehicle originally equipped with a plastic light assembly has the potential to develop this issue.

Early in the days of reproduction lighting, there were rampant problems with quality, especially in the area of water leaks.  Even factory replacements from the dealership have been known to have leakage issues.  In recent times however, quality control & improved practices in manufacturing have greatly reduced the number of defective lights.

Here at Latemodel Restoration Supply we deal with the top companies in the industry to assure that we are providing our customers with the best possible product for their hard earned money.  Because of this we are able to offer a no questions asked 1 year warranty on replacement light assemblies.  We have heard of other companies telling their customers to bake their lights in an oven or run silicone around the seams to fix or prevent leak issues.  Not here!  If for some reason there is a defective light assembly we will simply replace it, no questions asked, for 1 year from the date of purchase.  Not only do we like to offer our customers the best value, we back it up with the best service!

Have your headlights faded?  If it was within one year of the date of purchase, fading is covered by our no questions asked warranty too!  If you are dealing with an older set of lights, try out our headlight cleaning kit.  It really does work wonders.

If you have any questions about our lighting products, their warranties, or any other products we carry, feel free to contact one of our knowledgeable representatives for more information.

Stanley, all of our OE replacement lights are DOT approved.  Ones that are not are listed as off-road use only.

Wish I would have known about the free replacment of the headlights. Back in early 2006 I got the Ultra clears from yall and put them on my 89 LX Hatch. After a several weeks, Condensation started building up. Ended up selling the car the end of 06.

But will be buying the same kit for my 89 LX Vert when I am ready to replace the current stock ones.

I have a 1988 ford mustang HO 5.0. I have always had head light issues. If they have not faded, cracks occur throughout glass (tiny) by year 2. I have tried to obtain glass headlights but I am told they do not make glass head lights anymore. In the last six years, I have replaced head lights twice due to cracks and fading. I have ordered once here at 5.0 and with another company in the past.

So my question is this this:

What is the  BIG difference, IF ANYTHING,  between your economy headlights($99.99) as oppose to the ford headlights($199.99). I see both are plastic. I need to purchase headlights again but i need to go with better quality if there is anything out there in auto land. Thank you.

While current production aftermarket lights are vastly improved over their earlier counterparts, the Ford lenses still win the best available award.  If you want nothing less than #1, go with the Ford lenses.  However, the aftermarket lights are a VERY close second.

87-93 MUSTANG ULTRA CLEAR HEADLIGHT KIT WITH AMBER SIDEMARKERS

do u have this kit with clear sidemarkers?

May 28, 2009 5:18 PM

jmac said:

Gordon, we should have these available by the end of the week.

Douglas, the completely clear sidemarkers are no longer available as they are not DOT legal & US Customs is no longer allowing them in to the country.

Do the headlight kits include mounting hardware? My lamps are ok, but the mounting equipment is broken because one of the headlights, well, for lack of a better term, sags down, so my lights don't stay aimed correctly. Any info on where to get mounting hardware for the lights if the headlight kits do not contain any? Thanks alot!

I'm in the same boat as Rod. I have the lights but need the mounting and adjusting hardware (plate and screws) for both sides. Any chance I can order separately?

Rod & Gary - Some light kits do include the adjusting plates, but none include the attaching nuts.  We do have the adjusting plates seperately under part #s LRS-13118 & LRS-13119.  We have the retaining clips under part # LRS-13147A-K.  Last but not least we have the headlight nuts under part # LRS-13008HDW.

Michael Dougherty said:

Lights are very high quality but in the cataloge the discription states that they come with seals, backing plates and bulbs...they don't-that is a seperate "Deluxe" kit. I would not have minded paying more for the complete kit but it was not listed. It only gives you options for with Amber or Clear. Very mis-leading

Tyler - sorry for the delayed response.  The 90-98 Compsite headlights do include bulbs as of this writing.  A stock replacement bulb will work in the replacement light housing.

Im wondering about the fog lights for the 87-93 gt stangs the black tinted ones show the mounting bracket on the bottom of the fog light, but the stock housing had a bolt going straight bad to a bracket, will these lights go with the stock bracket or will i have to make a new one?

April 16, 2010 6:11 PM

jmac said:

Dave B - the mounting bracket/bolt swivels for adjustment, that it why it is in a different orientation than the mounting position.  They attach just like stock!
