We all know that the two main things people notice about a car is the way it looks and the way it sounds. Since there is no doubt the 2008-2009 Dodge Challenger already visually stands out in a crowd, we decided to focus on the second factor. Though the factory 08-09 Challenger Exhaust sounds great on the car, we felt it just didn't sound as good as it looked. As stated before we got this car to test parts and see how well products work in the real world, and that is just what we are doing.
This combination works for everyone, including the budget minded consumer. Now before you say you get what you pay for, we are thoroughly impressed with how this Challenger Exhaust combo turned out. Not everyone will be able to go out and lay out $800-$1200 for a new Exhaust System on their Challenger. With this in mind we wanted to change out the Mufflers to get a new sound yet still use most of the factory setup to keep the cost down. We went to a local Exhaust Shop and had him cure our 2008 SRT8 Challenger Exhaust needs.

We installed a pair of Jones' Full Boar Performance Mufflers in place of the factory "suitcase" on our Challenger. These mufflers, part number JES-FB2543, are designed to give you that "signature sound" for a fraction of the price. We chose the 2.5" offset inlet/outlet in order to make things easier for the exhaust shop. These mufflers matched the factory pipe offset well and other than a small extension piece were a direct fit for the factory "suitcase".

The next thing on the list was to eliminate the factory mufflers. Not only do these things keep the Challenger Exhaust quiet but they are huge & heavy! They angle up and tuck in behind the rear quarter panels. Not only are you making your Challenger sound better, you are also shedding pounds and letting it breathe at the same time.

The shop facbricated replacement sections for the Mufflers out of 2.5" tubing so we could retain the factory tips and have them exit in their origional location.

After the replacement sections were installed, exhaust hangers were installed in the stock locations to retain the factory fit and finish.

Well, there you have it. A Challenger Exhaust that can be had for $80!! Plus installation at your local muffler shop, so you're probably looking at about $200-$300 total for parts and labor.
Here is the link for the
Jones Full Boar Mufflers again. Not only will these mufflers work on a 6.1L SRT8, you can use them on your 5.7L R/T or 3.5L SE.
Plus it sounds awesome. Don't believe me? Listen for yourself!
Here is another video with less wind, also we took some in car footage accellorating to 75 MPH and cruising at that speed
