Since it's release the New Challenger has had a huge wave of excitement follow it from assembly line, to dealerships, and finally to Numerous Garages and Driveways Across the world. The excitement is not just from the consumer, but the automotive aftermarket as well. As many of you may know our company purchased a New Challenger for the sole purpose of installing the products we carry on it. We did this so we can give accurate, first hand, details of the product as well as helpful installation tips. With this being said when new parts hit the door we jump at the opportunity to get them on the car.
The newest part to be released from Dodge is the New Challenger T-Handle Shifter Knob part number DCP-82211622

This new handle not only looks great but is very simple to install. The only tools needed to perform the task is a Medim sized Common "Flat Head" Screwdriver, and a 5/64" Allen Wrench or "Hex Head".
The First step is to remove the Factory Handle. This is accomplished by inserting the tip of the screwdriver between the base of the knob and the lower Chrome trim ring. Rotate the screwdriver like you would when tightening a screw. This will seperate the trim ring from the knob and allow it to slide down the handle base.

With the trim ring out of the way, the white plastic base of the shift knob is exposed. Next you insert the screwdriver tip into the exposed split. Rotating slightly will release the knob and allow you to pull it off the shift lever.

Once the origional knob is removed It's time to install the new T-Handle. The first step is to locate the small, removable plug that is on the right hand side of the shifter plate.

Carefully use the screwdriver to remove the access plug from the hole. Once it is removed it will reveal the white release button located inside the hole. Using the screwdriver or key, depress the button and this will allow you to move the shift handle without the car turned on. Next, you need to move the shift lever down to the "Drive" location, this allows you room to tighten the set screw on the new handle.
Next you slip the T-Handle over the shift lever while gently pressing down to make sure the T-handle is engaged properly. When fully engaged the handle will not spin. It has a notch that the shift lever fits into which prevents it from spinning.

The last step is to tighten the set screw located on the front side of the handle down toward the base. Using the 5/64" Allen Wrench tighten the screw down to secure the handle. (Note- set screw should not protrude outside of the hole when finished.)
Well, there you have it, a simple upgrade that takes just a few minutes to install. Just one more piece that takes you back to the days when musclecars ruled the roads.
