My Favorite Fox Body

Share |

Currently, I do not own a Mustang. I have owned several in the past, but for the time being I'm stuck with ol' dirty red.

One my favorite types of Mustang is the 87-93 LX Coupe. The one that I owned looked terrible but (to quote Jonathan) it ran like a spotted ape

Recently, Karson, one of the employees here purchased a LX coupe and detailed it within an inch of it's life! The threw on a set of 17 inch Chrome Pony R wheels. I.. love.. this.. car..  Sometimes I'll just go into the parking lot to admire it.

Karson said the only other thing he is going to do to it, is tint the windows. He's keeping it clean and simple.

What do you guys think? What's your favorite type of Mustang?

I have owned every body style of latemodel mustang and out of each one, the 2005-up cars are still my favorite as far as driveability and how they are built. I have sentimental ties to my 84 GT convertible and 95 GT coupe though.

Thanks for the compliments Nate. This was my first fox body and after owning several 94 up mustangs, it took a little getting used to but I am growing attached to the oll coupe. I like the aftermarket body parts and wheels and such but theres just something about a simple notchback that I admire. Seeing the stainless pipes out the back and the stance just does it for me. She runs pretty good too! -Karson

I think the correct question would be how many has he had for more than 2 weeks.

It took me a little while to go through my roladex of cars but I have owned 6 Fox Coupes.  Hopefully the 2 I have now won't be going anywhere.

I have a 89 mustang lx 5.0 auto. and i love this car, i recently traded my 4 lug 5 star weld racing 15x7 for a set of panther 18x9 rims and tires, they have an offset of 5.5 rear and 6.5 for the front. Thaey are a 5 lug pattern, my Question is if i change over to a 5 lug conversion, will these fit my foxbody?  They have brand new 265/35 18 nexen n3000 tires all around.  I am worried that they might be to big.  Can anybody help with fitment issues?

John,

The 5.5" backspace should work well on the rear, but the 6.5" in the front my have some clearance issues with the strut & possibly the control arm (when turning).  The front whell may require an 1/8" or thicker spacer to clear.  For the 5 lug swap, I would use the SN95 front parts & go with the drum setup for the back (so you'll maintain the stock track width).

About nate

My name is Nathan and I am a C# developer by trade. My favorite movies are A Clockwork Orange and Fight Club, my favorite TV shows are Arrested Development and The Office. I also enjoy motocross and supercross. I am happily married and have two little girls. I became an auto enthusiast at age 16 when I purchased a 1988 GMC C1500 long bed, it was two-tone blue and ugly as sin. But it had a 350 and I flogged on it regularly. It's been all down hill from there. My current project is an 89 Chevy C1500 short bed.
