De-junking the Challenger Trunk

Share |

You gotta love auto makers.  Their engineers & design artists spend countless hours making almost everything about thier cars attractive from bumper to bumper.

Notice I said almost.

The trunk is often the most neglected area of an automobile.  Luckily Dodge happened to agree & has quite a nice looking carpeted "Challenger" logo trunk mat to spruce up hind area of your Challenger (part # DCP-82211225).

Initially Brad said, "Why the heck do we need to blog about a trunk mat?  You drop it in & go!".  After opening the trunk & droping in the mat it became apparent that there were just a couple of more steps involved.  Thus it was said, "We need to blog about the trunk mat.".

Installation is actually still very simple, but the subwoofer does need to come loose so you can slide the mat underneath it.  You'll need either a 1/4" or 3/8" rachet, a short extension, & a 10mm socket.

First, you'll need to remove the electrical connector from the subwoofer.  Simply slide the red retainer up & push in on the center of the connector release & pull the connector loose.  Then remove the bolt.  The bottom of the subwoofer enclosure is held with velcro, so just peel the enclousure out of the corner.  Lay the mat down fully & re-install the subwoofer enclosure.

Now step back & admire the newly decorated trunk of your Challenger!
