Dodge Challenger Pedal Kit Installation

Share |

Pedals can dress up any vehicle. Especially when the factory pedals are your regular run of the mill black rubber pedals. We decided to dress up the interior with the Challenger Pedal Kit (part# DCP-82211154). Installation on the kit was pretty straight forward and easy. Installation requires two very simple tools: cup of soapy water and flathead screwdriver. Here are the steps I followed to install the pedals on the SRT-8. These steps worked out great for me, but by no means are they the best or only installations steps to have to follow.

Step 1:

I started with the brake pedal since I knew this would be the pedal that would take the most time. You must remove the factory rubber pedal. To remove it, simply grab the back of the pedal (I grabbed the top) and pull up and away from the pedal. It came off with very little trouble.

Here is a picture with the factory pedal cover off the car and a little soapy water on the pedal.

Step 2:

With the factory rubber pedal cover removed, I applied a "good" amount of soapy water to the metal pedal and to the new after market pedal covers.

Step 3:

I started by sliding the left hand side of the after-market pedal cover onto the factory metal pedal. I then wet the screwdriver with the soapy water. I used the screwdriver to pry out the rubber edge of the after-market pedal cover by sliding it along the edge of the factory metal pedal. I repeated this process all the way around the pedal cover.

Note: This process can take several minutes. The further you get around the pedal the harder it gets to pry out the rubber edges. Remember to keep pressure on the pedal cover so that it does not pull off while you are prying on the backside; also, remember to keep the pedal and screwdriver wet with the soapy water. The soapy water will help greatly with the install.

Step 4:

The accelerator pedal. I saved the easiest step for last. This pedal simply snaps right on. Apply a little pressure and your done. See I told you, easy! Now your ready to brake and accelerate in style. Stay tuned for our write up (rumor has it... everyone's favorite..... performance mods!)

After 2 tries I  got some very hot water and soaked the pedal to make the rubber flexible and with the soap residue, worked it on from the top to the right, bottom and finally left, mostly with my fingers. Success at last. Whew!
