2010 Ford Mustang?

There has been alot of new info concerning the re-design for the new Mustang 2010 model year. If what I hear is true, I will have to save my pennies! A Shelby inspried front end, rear quarter panel "hips" and an all new 400hp 5.0L modular engine? Where do I sign?! There are also rumors that the base model V6 will get an all new 3.5L twin turbo engine that pushes over 300hp. The Mustang will deffinately have to step up the game in HP #'s if it is going to compete with the new 5th gen Camaro also set to debut in 2010, as well as the current SRT-8 Dodge Challenger that is already available.

How do you think the Mustang will stack up against the competition in 2010? What effect do you think $4.00+ gallon gas will have on the sports car market in 2 more years?

Well with that stock 400 hp and that turbo V6 I think people r going 2 buy the Dodge and that weak Chevy. But when they see that stang roll down the street there back hairs are going str8 up. I dont care how much gas goes up. I will never get rid of my stang even if gas 2 yrs from now ends up being $10 a gallon.

Hi

Here in Sweden the gas cost $2,30/liter, so we pay (3,785*2,30) $8,70/gallon...

The sports car market is more alive than ever and everyone wants more and more HP. especially in their familly car?! In my family we have 2 stangs, one -96 GT black /black, and one -96 Cobra black/camel, both are coupes.

During the latest 20 yrs when the Swedish goverment put more and more tax on the gas (because of enviromental causes they told us) people haven't changed their driving rutines. The only thing that is different is that people have less money to other stuff. So from a enviromental point of view, nothing has changed....

A thing that is VERY sad is that Ford Europe doesn't import the Mustang to Europe... So the only way to get hold of one is to import it by your self, and the You have to pay full import taxes and special VAT...

An example:

The car costs $35.000

Freight and insurance is $2.000

Import tax is 10% of 35.000 + 2.000 = 3.700

VAT is 25% of 35.000 + 2.000 + 3.700 = 10.175.

Changing light colors is about $2.000

Registration is $1.000

So to get a Mustang GT 2008 in my garage I have to pay

35.000 + 2.000 + 3.700 + 10.175 + 2.000 + 1.000 = $53.875 !!!

How about that ?!

The time spent behind the wheel of my 'stang equals thousands of hours on a shrinks couch !!!!!!!  Price comparison: Shrink wants $250+per hr. Stang at 125 mph wants 10 gal @ $8.00 per ($80.00) What therapy would you choose ???

Do I make my point ?

PS: I get off at lower numbers  too !!!!!!!!!

Well I have to finally admit that my Fox body is looking a little long in tooth. Granted I am still ahead in the HP and TQ game and the handling is there but the gap is narrowing fast and if I punch a rod through the side of my trusty bored and stroked sleeper I don't have a warrenty to cover it. As long as I can afford to have my baby secure in the garage where I can wrench and take her out to terrorize the locals, I'm in! whether I opt out for a new one or stay with my "economy" model, screw OPEC and our idiot government, I can't drive 55!

Gas prices don't matter to me. i need to get around and a car is much faster than a bike. and a stang is alot funner. i may only have a v6 but they are pretty torquey, takes little to lite up the tires. i get around 30mpg cruizing at 80 on the interstate with nothing more than a cold air and true dual exhaust. i just love the way a stang feels and looks, i will never give up my stang, unless i can afford that TTV6 in 2010.  but for now it's reliable, never had a break down, 96,000 miles and synthetic oil. OPEC, kiss my grits!

I'm afraid the short lived history of the original pony car heyday is about to be repeated. No matter how good the new Challenger ( makes me drool) or the Mustangs are ( or the Camaro may be if they ever get to production) $4.00+ plus gal fuel and a bankrupt economy - thanks to Bush et al - will doom the current pony car revival. Very sad, just as it was about to get interesting !

im with every one else gas is cheap in san antonio ive got a 82 notch back v8 conversion with a 347 and a 90 4 banger with a c3 and 3.73's neither gets great mileage but i still love to drive em the 4 banger isnt fast but it will go fast and the v8 gets horrible mileage but ill put it up against and slomaro as for now with the whole chevy camaro and the new challenger i think that people will still buy the new stang just because it is an icon and tradition  much more so then either other car  and unending line that at the release will be what 46 years old thats a long time

       long live the mustang
