Parts is parts...

Share |

When I was growing up there was parody commercial of a fast food franchise that repeated the phrase, "parts is parts." Basically saying that no matter what chicken parts were in the "chicken", people wouldn't care, and they would just eat it anyway because it was "chicken".

I think that sometimes aftermarket retail stores have that same, old school, mentality, "just stock it, whatever it is, and someone will buy it." Here at LRS, our research department is always looking for the next big thing to hit the Mustang, Chevy truck, or Ford truck market. Of course we are always trying to be the one stop shop, but there is more to it than that. We are enthusiasts. We want to be the company that adds that little miniscule part to the market that people need, and to offer it at a reasonable price.

Our most recent addition along this line of thinking are our new Mustang seat belt kits. The Fox crowd has been complaining for years about replacing everything in the interior of their Mustang but that the seatbelts still look ratty.  There is now a solution to that, and just in time for Christmas.

These kits not only improve the look of your interior but the safety as well. These are very nice belt sets, and we even throw in new belt sleeves and a Torx bit to replace them. It could not be easier! Keep checking our website and our blog for more items you need to complete your restoration.

Despite LRS having the best customer service, inventory, pricing and selection; also think about LRS as being the company where "parts are not just parts"

I am restoring an '86 coupe lx.  It needs a front bumper cover (damaged).  Will the 87-93 front bumper cover work on my '86?

86 LX Bumper,

The technical answer is both yes and no.

Yes, it will physically bolt up to your car.

No, it won't mathc the ohter parts on your car.  In order to put the newer 87-93 bumper on your car yo uneed to change all the parts that go along with it.

You will have to get a 87-93 headlight reinforcement panel along with the new headlights and either modify your existing light harness or get a 87-93 headlight harness.  then you will have to get an 87-93 hood because the leading edge of the 86 hoods won't match the 87-93 bumper. Then you need to change the molding that goes all the way arround the car.  It doesn't match up at all.  It's really a bigger deal than you might first think.  It would probably be easier to find a used 85-86 bumper cover somewhere.  Hope this answers your questions.

Don't forget once you change the front you will have to change the rear to make it match!
